Laser vision correction is a procedure that improves vision by permanently changing the shape of the cornea (the clear covering of the front of the eye) with a laser. It is different from conventional LASIK which treats everyone’s eyes based on the same prescription. So if you have a -3.50 prescription, under conventional LASIK your eyes will be treated the same as others whose eyes have the same prescription as you!

What Causes Vision Problems?
Most vision problems occur when there’s some inability to focus an image correctly on the retina.
Shortsightedness, longsightedness and astigmatism happen when light coming into the eye is not properly refracted/bended. The iLASIK procedure helps to correct these vision problems by reshaping the cornea so that light focuses accurately on the retina.
A majority of iLASIK patients will see 20/20 or better after surgery. You could be one of them and that is really life changing! 20/20 vision is the benchmark or standard for good vision. It simply means you see at 20 feet what a person without any vision problems would see at 20 feet.
Technology Approved by NASA & US Military
While LASIK has been in use for 20 years, it wasn’t until it advanced to become an ultra-precise, all laser procedure (known as iLASIK) that NASA approved it for use on astronauts.
In fact, new NASA guidelines specify that only the most advanced form of LASIK may be performed on its candidates using precise measurement, and femtosecond and wavefront-guided lasers in the 2 step process.
